10 Fun and romantic things to do on a rainy day with your boyfriend/girlfriend

Its a rainy weekend day and you’re out of things to do with your boyfriend/girlfriend. You wish you could have gone for a stroll hand in hand in Central Park, and why not even do sommersaults in the grass! But nope! The weather. Is. Crappy. Here are 10 ideas of things to do on a rainy day with your boyfriend/girlfriend.

Don’t let the weather ruin the pleasure of being together!

For you, here are our top 10 fun activities that you can do as a couple when it’s raining :

Things to do on a rainy day with your boyfriend/girlfriend # 1 : Go for a walk anyway!!

Haha are you surprised? It’s raining. Yes. It’s cold. Yes. So? Put on your rubber boots, snuggle into your favorite yellow raincoat and pretend you’re Paddington. Done? Off to the woods! Trust me, walking in the woods in rainy weather is very enjoyable when you’re dressed right : you can kiss in the rain, make wishes (really?) shed tears of joy without anyone noticing (no kidding…?), jump into puddles and roll in the mud (in that case you might want to consider a brown raincoat). And when the rain stops, you can admire the first ray of sun playing with the leaves. So sure, this activity is for nature lovers. Personally, before living in New York, I really enjoyed getting out of the house, wether sunny or not. A soothing romantic stroll is a must!

Things to do on a rainy day with your boyfriend/girlfriend # 2 : Play “Clap-Clap”

Frankly it’s a ridiculous game (it really is, if you ever play, please tape it and send us the video! xD).  OK, I don’t know if you saw the horribly scary movie “The Conjuring”, it’s the movie that taught me this mix between blind man buff and hide and seek. The rules are simple : one of the players puts on a blinfold and spins around while counting loudly to ten. All the while, the other player hides. Once the counting to ten is up, the first player asks “clap-clap?”. And the second player claps his hands twice to give a clue to the first player as to where he might be (you are allowed three clap-claps max, otherwise it’s cheating). Honestly, you will laugh your head off!

The other day, my boyfriend was hiding behind the couch, I could hear him giggling but I couldn’t find him : I could touch the walls, the couch, the floor, I could feel his presence and hear him breathing but I just couldn’t put my finger on where he was exactly. Obviously I fell down a few times, so did he, in short we were two children trapped in grown ups’ bodies! Not taking yourself too seriously is really good sometimes!

Things to do on a rainy day with your boyfriend/girlfriend #3 : (Almost die of laughter watching your girlfriend wearing a polar sweatsuit)

Special thanks to my friend Jeremy for this stunning “activity” idea! You helped us big time! Hahaha

Things to do on a rainy day with your boyfriend/girlfriend #4 : Go to the movies

It’s raining? This is an opportunity to fill up on Pop-Corn in front of a good movie. Snuggle against Snookums and have a good time, as ordinary as it may seem. (Provided you don’t argue about which film to go see). I’m sure there is a compromise between The Matrix and A Walk to Remember 😉

Things to do on a rainy day with your boyfriend/girlfriend #5 : Take pictures of each other

Organize a little photo shoot. Invest yourselves in the activity! Sets, disguises, makeup. Have fun! Be Cowboys, reinvent fairy tales, become Tweety Bird and Sylvester, do whatever you want as long as you are both on the same wavelength… Anything goes! And on top of that, you can also take the time to build a small photo album of you two!

Things to do on a rainy day with your boyfriend/girlfriend #6 : Go to exhibitions, museums

The more so for New Yorkers! You have no excuse! There is so much to do, to discover in New York. There are new exhibitions every week, incredible museums to visit.

Things to do on a rainy day with your boyfriend/girlfriend #7 : A small hair removal session?

No not for you ladies (you don’t wax in front of your boyfriend, of course not, it’s common knowledge women don’t have any body hair and were born with silk instead of skin hahaha). However, he sometimes needs to : eyebrows, back (I’m listing those because in my very personal opinion, a man who shaves his armpits… Well, lets just say I’m not very comfortable with that). Buy some wax strips and prove to him just how much we can suffer, fragile creatures that we are, when we book a waxing session at our beautician!

Things to do on a rainy day with your boyfriend/girlfriend #8 : Spa time

And to soothe the post-waxing soreness, there’s nnothing better. Go take a shower, or better yet, a bath with relaxing salts and lots of bubbles. Plaster each other’s face with clay, cream, peanut butter (mud if you’re back from that walk) or anything else you might have nearby. Massage one another with essential oils or olive oil if it’s the only thing you’ve got. And obviously, do all of the above while eating chocolate, strawberries and cookies, otherwise what’s the point? 🙂

Things to do on a rainy day with your boyfriend/girlfriend #9 : Go shopping

When it’s raining, going to the mall can be a pleasant activity. You can hint to Snookums what kind of dress you would like to have for your birthday for example! But beware if you’re on a budget, last time there were sales, I’ve spent exactly 216.12 dollars in less than an hour :'( VERY BAD!)

Things to do on a rainy day with your boyfriend/girlfriend #10 : Karaoke!

Wether you can sing or not, wether you’re into Sinatra, Eminem or “Weird Al” Yankovic : who cares! Once again, the point is to spend fun times with you’re other half 🙂
